APL began in 1971 in Cambridge, Waikato, founded by the Plaw family. Over time, it has grown to become New Zealand’s largest manufacturer of aluminium windows and doors, while remaining a family-run business.

All APL products are designed and tested in Waikato to suit New Zealand’s unique landscape and weather. The aluminium is processed in Hamilton and then distributed to independent manufacturers across the country, who fabricate and install the windows and doors in homes nationwide. This integrated process not only ensures quality but also provides jobs for thousands of New Zealanders. Additionally, APL is transparent about the materials and origins of their products, as recognised by the International Living Future Institute.
